The Colors of Roses Foundation’s Vitamin Supplementation Program is a vital component of its Maternal and Child Health Services, reinforcing the belief that life-saving care begins in the womb.

By providing pregnant and lactating mothers with essential vitamins, the program aims to combat nutritional deficiencies, foster healthy development in children, and reduce preventable maternal and child health complications.

Vitamin Supplement Program

Target Beneficiaries

  1. Pregnant women to support fetal growth and reduce pregnancy-related risks.
  2. Lactating mothers to enhance breast milk quality and aid recovery.
  3. Children (0-5 years) to prevent stunted growth, strengthen immunity, and support cognitive development.

Core Interventions

  1. Vitamin Distribution: Prenatal and postnatal vitamins, Vitamin A supplements, and multivitamins for children.
  2. Nutritional Counseling and Awareness: Educational sessions on balanced diets, guidance on nutrient-rich local foods, and daily supplement for pregnant women, breast feeding mother and children.

Community Engagement

The Foundation partners with community health workers, local clinics, and organizations to:
  1. Identify and reach underserved communities.
  2. Increase awareness through outreach programs and local-language educational materials.
  3. Foster community participation to sustain long-term health practices.

Program Achievements and Impact

  1. Administer over 2 million doses of vitamins to pregnant women and children in Cameroon.
  2. Expanded vitamin distribution to eight regions across Cameroon.
  3. Increased access to essential vitamins for pregnant women and children under five.
  4. Strengthened partnerships with healthcare providers for sustainable service delivery.

The program’s interventions have contributed to healthier pregnancies, stronger immunity, and reduced maternal and child mortality caused by preventable nutritional deficiencies. Through collaboration with healthcare professionals and international partners, the program’s data-driven approach ensures resources reach the most vulnerable populations.
