Tombel Hospital Project

Equipping Tombel District Hospital in Cameroon with Critically Needed Medical Equipment. In Partnership with Bakossi Diaspora Women

The Colors of Roses Foundation, in collaboration with the Bakossi Diaspora Women and in partnership with Project C.U.R.E., is launching a fundraising campaign to equip Tombel District Hospital with critically needed medical equipment. Located in the Tombel Subdivision of the Southwest Region of Cameroon, Tombel District Hospital is the primary healthcare facility for the community. With a 65-bed capacity, the hospital is severely under-resourced and urgently requires support to meet the growing healthcare needs of the population.

Currently, the hospital operates with just one main physician, two part-time assisting physicians, three midwives, and a small team of support staff. Its infrastructure is dilapidating, there is no ambulance for emergencies, and essential diagnostic and surgical equipment is either broken or completely lacking. Critical services such as X-rays, ultrasounds, and laboratory testing are unavailable, and surgeries, including cesarean sections, are performed under extremely challenging conditions.

Tombel is a rural community where residents often travel long distances for even the most basic medical care. The absence of proper equipment means countless lives are at risk every day. This project seeks to change that reality by delivering a 40-foot container filled with life-saving medical supplies and equipment to the hospital.

Tombel District Hospital Medical Equipment Project Update

On June 11, 2025, the Colors of Roses Foundation, in collaboration with the Bakossi Diaspora Women and Project C.U.R.E., reached a major milestone in the Tombel District Hospital Medical Equipment Project. Mr. Michael Wolf, a Needs Assessment Specialist from Project C.U.R.E., visited the hospital in Cameroon to conduct a four-hour, in-depth evaluation of its facilities, equipment, and service gaps. Accompanied by the local team from Premier Medical, he was warmly received by Medical Director Dr. Augustine Elonge and staff.
The completed assessment report recommends prioritizing equipment and services for Helping Babies Survive (HBS) and Helping Mothers Survive (HMS), highlighting that the hospital could benefit from more than one shipment. This report will guide the assembly of a customized 40-foot container of medical supplies to be shipped by the end of July 2025.
The project now moves into the fundraising phase to cover shipment costs. Supporters are encouraged to contribute to ensure the hospital receives the equipment necessary to improve maternal, neonatal, emergency, and general healthcare services for thousands in the region.

Together, the goal is to bring hope and healing to Tombel District Hospital.
